We take so much in our daily lives for granted that we don't always notice the very obvious blessings in our lives. Tonight I want to talk about blessings. The past seven or so months have been some of the hardest for Alex and I. Finances have been so tight and with the lack of jobs and the craziness that comes with planning and putting together a wedding life was getting so stressful. There were moments of extreme doubt as to whether I was making the right decisions. And yet we moved forward with faith that we were on the right path. Some how miraculously each moth we were able to meet all of our obligations and within weeks of our wedding we were each rewarded with jobs. Now we are finally able to start getting ahead. Its not merely minimum payments anymore and we have been able to clear three debts including a credit card. We still have far to go but we are moving forward and it is a wonderful feeling.
Blessings have been in my head today, I have had a few things bothering me and as I have been able to talk them out and as I have been reflectiing on the time we spent in the temple on friday and again today as I was able to spend some time cleaning in the temple. I find I have so much to be grateful for.
I grew up in this beautiful area with temples within easy distance one I could see at night from my home glowing up on the mountain. I have also had the opportunity to live in an area where the temple while still within a fairly easy distance took over two hours to drive through heavy traffic. And yet those temple trips were always looked forward to and the cars were always packed. Why is it that when it is so close and so easy to go we take little advantage of it? Now as we are going to have our local temple closed we will have to drive a little further to attend the temple and yet it is still close for us. I hope that we will take advantage of the opportunity to go to the temple even when it is not quite close or so easy. the longer drive will give us more time to reflect on why we are going and what we do there.
